Utah Legislature’s Last Day of the Year

The Utah Legislature enters its final session of the year today and all we can say is “thank goodness.”  Every year we hold our breath as some of the most ridiculous laws are presented to the Legislature, many of which pass.  When it comes to individual liberty and the rights of criminal defendants the Legislature has a track record of being extremely pro-state and anti-individual liberty.  This year was no exception.

Fortunately, many criminal defense lawyers, this firm included, have worked tirelessly to defeat some of the more egregious bills proposed this legislative session.  We have another 8 months before we have to start worrying again.  In the meantime, Salcido Law Firm will continue to remain educated on the issues that affect criminal defendants.
