Salt Lake Judge Anthony Quinn Dies After Hit By Car

Yesterday, Third District Court Judge Anthony Quinn was riding his bike up Millcreek Canyon where he was struck by an oncoming car.  He was taken to the hospital where he later died.  Our firm has several cases pending in front of Judge Quinn right now and we were saddened to hear of his passing.  He was a good judge.  He was calm, collected, fair, and intelligent.  For example, in a hotly contested divorce case that we have had pending in front of him for more than a year he has had to make very difficult decisions with how to treat the parties with regards to child custody, alimony, and child support.  He did an excellent job removing some of the animosity between the parties and in helping the case to move forward.

Judges like Judge Quinn don’t come around that often.  He seemed able to see the individuals involved in cases before him as real people, rather than just something he had to finish to get home for the day.  He was always thoughtful in his decision making process.  Our prayers are with his family at this difficult time.
