Artest Petitions for a Name Change

Ron Artest Could Become Metta World Peace

Last Thursday an attorney filed a petition in the Los Angeles Superior Court. The petition stated that Ronald William Artest Jr. wanted to change his name to Metta World Peace for personal reasons. Artest, who just finished his second season playing basketball for the Los Angeles Lakers, is preceded in his name change desires by Chad Johnson of the Cincinnati Bengals, who changed his name to Ochocinco back in August 2008. It is assumed that the first name will be Metta and the last name World Peace which would be the new stitching on Artest’s back if the name change goes through.
