Utah Third District Court Commissioner Arnett Resigns

The Salt Lake Tribune reported today that Commissioner Thomas Arnett, serving in the Third Judicial District Court, Salt Lake Department, abruptly resigned yesterday.  Commissioner Arnett was scheduled to retire in November from serving on the bench and it is unknown why he resigned instead of waiting until his November retirement date.

Commissioner Arnett has been on the bench since 1991.  As a commissioner he presided over numerous family law cases such as divorce and child custody fights.  As these types of cases are highly emotional and sensitive, it may be that Commissioner Arnett was tired from presiding over these cases for over 20 years and couldn’t wait until November to retire.  Our Salt Lake divorce attorneys have appeared before Commissioner Arnett on several occasions and we wish him all the best on whatever his next endeavor is.
