Carjacking in Utah

If you are charged with carjacking in Utah, you are facing very tough penalties. Utah courts have “thrown the book” at defendants in grand theft auto cases in the past. These are serious crimes that often involve some degree of violence. For instance, robbing a person of the vehicle at gun or knife point can escalate the degree of the felony you are facing and bring with it additional charges which may in some cases even include attempted murder. What are your options if you have been charged with this type of theft? The first thing you should know is that you are entitled to an attorney and should seek private counsel as soon as possible. Individuals who have been charged with high degree felonies are often not released on bail or only released under special considerations with high bail amounts. Speak with a Utah carjacking defense attorney at out office as soon as possible to get started on your case and protect your interests.
