E. coli Beef Recall
Possibly Tainted Meat Being Taken Off Shelves
Reports are coming out that three different grocery chains are recalling their ground beef packages because of a possible E. coli bacteria contamination. The three grocery chains are Winn-Dixie Stores, Pulbix Super Markets, and Kroger Co. and they announced that the recalls would mainly take place in souteastern U.S. states. The problem with the beef reportedly comes from the National Beef Packing Co. in Kansas who the USDA announced was recalling more than 60,000 pounds of beef. The Ohio Department of Agriculture were the first to spot the bacteria during their routine testing and this discovery has fueled the massive recall efforts.
Food Poisoning and E. coli Injuries
Unfortunately, in our national economy, an outbreak such as the E. coli bacteria or other food poisoning can spread rapidly and can easily effect thousands of people. If all goes well this particular E. coli outbreak will be stopped before it starts; however, producers and consumers aren’t always so lucky to catch the problem this early. Food poisoning is all too common in today’s world and can result in serious injury or even death if not treated properly. Symptoms of food poisoning may vary in severity, may appear immediately or several days following ingestion, and may last for hours or even months.
