Bike Accident in Midvale
46-Year-Old Bicyclist in Critical Condition
Just after noon on Tuesday witness saw a fast moving bicyclist run a red light and get clotheslined by a pole that was sticking up out of a manhole. After running the light the bicyclist apparently rode through some cones and barricades and at the last second realized that there was a pole across the road. The man was not wearing a helmet and was knocked to the ground when he ran into the pole. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Crews were apparently flushing out a water line and had a pipe sticking out of the manhole four to six feet of the road.
Utah Bicycle Injuries
More and more people are beginning to use biking as their mode of transportation as they become more conscious of their impact on the environment as well as aware of the possible financial savings that can be had. Although we all try and accommodate those who wish to bike, accidents do and will continue to happen. Although some accidents can appear to be the result of rider negligence, like the case above, that is not always the case. Some accidents that were caused by other parties either failing to see the bicyclist or for whatever other reason could involve legal liability to the injured party.
